It is included in an evolving list of plants carefully researched and chosen by RHS experts. Divided into 3 groups these lists, linked below, are maintained by a team of RHS staff and are reviewed annually.
'Arthur Bell' is a small shrub of upright, bushy growth, with glossy bright green foliage and clusters of fragrant, cupped, double flowers 8cm in width, opening bright yellow, ageing to creamy-yellow
Amber is a moderately-vigorous climber with double, nodding flowers composed of ribbed tepals, varying from amber to creamy-yellow, and tinged pink on the back of the petals. Flowering in late spring and early summer then again in early autumn; profuse seedheads follow
'Variegata' is a medium-sized single-stemmed evergreen shrub with stiff, spine-tipped leaves striped and edged creamy-yellow. Bell-shaped cream flowers in broad panicles to 2m in height appear in late summer and autumn
'Do Tell' is a clump-forming perennial to 90cm tall, with mid-green, divided foliage. The single flowers, produced in early summer, are pale pink with a large, central cluster of cream and dark pink staminodes
'Gay Kybo' is a bulbous perennial to 45cm in height, with strap-shaped leaves and neat, double, creamy-white flowers 10cm in width, the inner segments shorter, deep orange
Lady Series are semi-evergreen, herbaceous perennials with leathery, five-fingered leaves and outward-facing, cup-shaped, single flowers produced from late winter to mid-spring. Colours include white, yellow-cream, dark red, purple-black and metallic blue-black, also paler shades spotted with dark red or purple
'Sparkling Burgundy' is a bulbous perennial forming a rosette of upright, strap-shaped, reddish-purple leaves to 60cm long, with starry purple-tinged flowers borne in a dense raceme on an erect, purple stem in late summer
C. takesimana is a vigorously-spreading perennial, forming clumps to 75cm high and wide. Branched stems bear heart-shaped, glossy leaves, up to 8cm long, and in summer, bell-shaped, drooping flowers are borne on arching stems. The flowers are a creamy-white colour flushed with pink and have fine dark red speckles on the inner petal surfaces
'Mollie Rilstone' is a strongly-scented, large flowered, Spencer cultivar with a cream ground and a pale-pink, picotee edge; the flower begins to open before the colours pale. Height 1.5-2.5m
'Desert Sun' is an upright, clump-forming perennial, to 80cm tall, with palmately-divided green leaves and, in summer, spikes of creamy-white buds opening to scented, yellow flowers
