Competitive salary, dependent on experience and qualifications
- Are you a strategic thinker with a track record of commercial success in marketing?
- Are you able to nurture, sustain and grow a membership body with a love of gardening?
- Are you an inspirational leader who knows how to get the best from people and develop a strong team?
- Are you ready to embark on an exciting and challenging career with a charity with more than two centuries of success that is engaged in an ambitious investment programme of growth and change?
If the answers to these questions are 'yes', then you may be interested in applying for the role of our Director of Members, Editorial and Marketing. This role is a member of the Leadership Team and reports to the Director General.
The RHS has been the force behind gardening for more than 200 years, and today our vision, to enrich everyone’s life through plants, and make the UK a greener and more beautiful place, is more relevant than ever. Our members are at the heart of everything we do, and this is therefore a pivotal role for the organisation.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and talented marketing and membership leader who can inspire their team to attract more people into supporting and engaging with the work of the RHS, through the dynamic marketing of our Shows and Gardens and through raising awareness of the wider charitable work of the RHS in education, communities, science and art.
You will be responsible for the retention and growth of the Society’s membership base while providing best-in-class service for them. You will ensure strong and robust leadership of our collection and management of data, in the changing legislative world. You will also be responsible for overseeing the editorial and commercial direction of RHS publications, including our renowned members' magazine, The Garden, and also have accountability for the growth of conferences and events held at the Royal Horticultural Halls in Central London.
You will need to have a flexible approach to working hours, as well as the ability to travel to and work at the RHS’s various locations around the UK. The post demands knowledge and experience of all forms of marketing, strategy development and a proven track record for delivering results and operational excellence in a business-to-consumer environment. A love of plants and gardening is desirable, but it is not necessary to be an expert horticulturist.
