Wisley Garden Library in Gardiners' HouseInterior of Wisley Garden Library

Wisley Garden Library

Our Garden Library lends to RHS members and is open to all garden visitors for reference. We provide comfortable facilities for browsing books, relaxing with the latest gardening magazines and for undertaking research. We can also help visitors use the collection to find answers to their enquiries.

Christmas closure

Wisley Garden Library will be closed between 16 December 2019 and 26 January 2020 (inclusive). The library re-opens at 11am on Monday 27 January 2020.

The traditional Christmas closure period is being extended this year to prepare for the future move to the National Centre for Horticultural Science and Learning. Between 2–26 January members can arrange to collect books from the Membership Area in the Wisley Welcome Building.

To request books please email us with your membership number and the details of the titles you'd like to request. The Library Team will confirm by email when your requested books are available for collection.

The Gardiners' House is one of the oldest buildings at Wisley and is accessed via steps. If you feel our entrance could present you with access difficulties and would like to make use of the library’s collections, please call the library team in advance of you visit or make entrance staff aware on your arrival at the garden. A member of our team will meet you to discuss your requirements and arrange access to the collections for you.

In Autumn 2020 the library will move to a purpose-built, accessible space in the new National Centre for Horticultural Science and Learning.
